Italian former head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco is set to join Panionios, as the club shows interest after resigning last month from the national team, per Sotiris Vetakis.
Ever since 2022, Pozzecco served as a head tactician for the Italian national team until the end of the EuroBasket 2025 in September, and announced parting ways after their exit.
Panionios was led by Luka Pavicevic, leading into a slump as they faced losses in the early season of the EuroLeague, which resulted in immediate dismissal.
The club and Pozzecco are currently in advanced negotiations, and it is only a matter of time before he is announced as head coach of Panionios.
After Pozzecco retired as a player, he transitioned to become a coach, where he had multiple credible experiences that can be put in his resume.
He had led Sassari, Fortitudo Bologna, Varese, Orlandina, and the most recent club he coached was Asvel.
