Former world champion out of Northern Ireland open

Former world champion Neil Robertson has pulled out of the Northern Ireland open after picking up a respiratory illness.

The Austrlian says he has been bedridden for almost 6 days after becoming sick at an event in China.

The 43 year old says he won’t be able to play at the Waterfront Hall despite it being the only home nations event he hasn’t won.

He was due to begin his tournament against David Grace tomorrow who will now be given a walkover.

The action kicks off in Belfast with Chris Wakelin against Lan Yuhao from 10am.
