The Miami Heat have been dealing with ongoing problems in the defensive rebounding department this season, a weakness made even more noticeable with Bam Adebayo still unavailable due to a toe injury.

As Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald points out, the issue has become a recurring theme for Miami as opponents continue to capitalize on second-chance opportunities.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra didn’t hide his frustration after Friday’s loss to the Knicks in New York, making it clear that the Heat can’t keep letting the same problem derail them.

“It’s costing us games now,” Spoelstra said, emphasizing that the team has talked about the issue enough and must start correcting it.

“That’s where we are and we’ve said it enough that we have to fix it. We’re being stubborn about it, the things that we need to do better. I feel like we’re fully capable of doing it. Is it easy? Winning is not easy in this league.”
