Coming off a breakout season in which he was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player, Hawks guard Dyson Daniels entered the summer determined not to plateau.

Instead, he devoted the offseason to expanding his skill set and becoming a more well-rounded offensive threat, according to Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Daniels explained that his focus wasn’t just on refining what he already does well but on adding new layers to his game.

“I was able to go and make improvements in a lot of ways,” he said. “I worked a lot on my midrange game, being able to get to spots, different pickups, different footwork, getting good shots, trying to develop that offensive bag. And I think that’s been the main focus for me this summer.”

Known primarily for his defensive versatility and energy, Daniels is aiming to evolve into a more complete player who can create offense at all three levels.

The added emphasis on shot creation and midrange scoring could allow him to complement Atlanta’s stars more effectively and relieve some of the pressure on primary ball-handlers.

For the Hawks, Daniels’ continued growth is viewed as a key to their success in the coming season.

His ability to turn offseason work into consistent production will determine whether his Most Improved campaign was a springboard to even greater heights – or just the beginning.
