Michigan head coach Dusty May credited the team’s willingness to play better than they did in mid-November following Wednesday’s 101-61 Players Era Festival Championship blowout victory vs. Gonzaga (7-0 start/won two Festival games by 40 and one by 30).
*beat Wake Forest 85-84 in overtime/defeated TCU 67-63 a few weeks back*
*only had a 36-30 lead at halftime vs. Middle Tennessee on November 19th/won game 86-61*
(via TNT Sports/Bleacher Report):
“We’re playing like this because we treated those early-season wins like losses. We didn’t feel like we played anywhere near our potential, and so, we went back to the drawing board like we had lost by 20. And the thing about our program, we’re all about the work. This feels good right now, but this has to be a starting point for us. I can’t wait to get back. We were meeting before the game about what was gonna be our work schedule. We’ve got a little bit of a break now. So, I’m only concerned if we don’t build a fort around our locker room. As long as we don’t let anyone penetrate what we have, then we’ll continue to get better.”
