Draymond Green didn’t hold back after the Golden State Warriors’ disappointing 129–104 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Friday night, calling out the team’s defensive effort.

His frustration was echoed by head coach Steve Kerr, who pointed to a noticeable lack of energy and urgency from his players, according to The Athletic’s Nick Friedell.

The Warriors fell behind early and never mounted a serious comeback, leaving Kerr questioning the team’s mindset and competitive spirit.

“There has to be some fire in the belly to get out of a tough night,” Kerr said.

“It’s tough as a young player when things aren’t going their way, the game’s not going their way, it’s easy to get down. You can’t do that in this league. You have to fight and compete every second, and it didn’t feel like we did that tonight.”

Green has played 14 seasons for the Warriors. He has averaged 8.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 890 regular-season games.

He was selected to play in 4 All-Star games. He has won 1 Defensive Player of the Year award and 4 NBA championships.
