Draymond Green may be open to a trade that sends him to the Milwaukee Bucks, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. A league executive told Siegel that Green could view such a move as temporary, with the possibility of returning next season to play alongside Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, using his $27.6 million player option.
Golden State continues to explore a blockbuster trade for Antetokounmpo ahead of the February 5 deadline. Sources reported to ESPN’s Anthony Slater that Curry is the only untouchable player, while every other roster spot remains under evaluation.
The Warriors currently sit eighth in the Western Conference at 27-23, reflecting urgency for a move that could extend their championship window. Curry is leading the team with 27.2 points per game, shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from three.
Green’s role as a veteran playmaker and defensive anchor makes him a key salary-matching piece for any deal involving Antetokounmpo. His $25.8 million contract is one of the few in Golden State’s roster that aligns with Milwaukee’s financial requirements.
Jimmy Butler, out for the season with an ACL injury, is another potential piece, earning $54.1 million, which matches Antetokounmpo’s salary. The Bucks, who sit 12th in the Eastern Conference at 18-28, are expected to demand additional draft capital and young contributors to make a trade feasible.
On the court, Green is averaging 8.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in 26.7 minutes per game, while providing veteran leadership for a team still within striking distance of the playoffs. His ability to return next season could make a temporary trade more appealing to both sides.
Golden State’s front office is weighing its options carefully. While the addition of Antetokounmpo would create a new core alongside Curry and Butler, the team must consider the long-term implications for chemistry, salary, and player development.
