Sacramento Kings big man Domantas Sabonis has maintained patience while engaging in constructive talks with the franchise’s new front office during a turbulent offseason, according to reporting by Sam Amick on Sactown Sports 1140 and cited by HoopsHype.

Amick noted that Sabonis has expressed a willingness to let the process unfold, even as the team undergoes significant changes. “So far, he’s been signaling patience and has had good conversations with the new front office,” Amick said during his segment.

The Kings have already made several moves this offseason, including hiring Doug Christie as the new head coach. Sacramento also traded star point guard De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs in February and is reportedly acquiring Dennis Schroder from the Detroit Pistons in a sign-and-trade for Malik Monk.

Sabonis’ outlook seems partly tied to the addition of Schroder, as Amick suggested the veteran center wants to feel competitive every night. “In the short term, I could see Domas saying, ‘Listen, I just want to feel like I have a chance every night.’ And now, you’ve got me a point guard,” Amick explained.

The Kings also dealt Jonas Valanciunas to land Dario Saric, further signaling their intent to retool the roster. The future of scorers DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine remains uncertain as the team evaluates how best to balance its offense.

Sacramento finished ninth in the Western Conference last season with a 40–42 record and fell to the Dallas Mavericks in the play-in tournament.

Amick noted that Sabonis desires a higher usage rate like he had in previous seasons. However, the Kings still face the challenge of balancing multiple scoring options on the roster.

There were rumors about a potential Trae Young trade, but the Kings showed no interest in deals that would weaken their defense. Their focus remains on building a more balanced and competitive team.
