Domantas Sabonis has been diagnosed with a partially torn meniscus in his left knee and is expected to be sidelined for at least three to four weeks before the Kings reevaluate his condition.

The injury comes at a difficult moment for Sacramento, which has stumbled to a 3–12 start and is already facing speculation that the franchise could shift toward a rebuild ahead of the trade deadline.

Sabonis, who remains under contract through 2028, had been producing strong numbers prior to going down.

Through 11 games, he was averaging 17.2 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 33.2 minutes per night, continuing the high-level play that made him an All-Star in 2023 – a season in which the Kings also returned to the playoffs.

Just last week, reports surfaced indicating that opposing teams were monitoring the situation in Sacramento and expressing interest in pursuing a trade for Sabonis.

His injury and the Kings’ slow start may only increase the attention surrounding both him and the team as the season progresses.
