Sacramento Kings forward DeMar DeRozan showed visible frustration during a third-quarter timeout Monday night, slamming a water bottle as the team suffered a 120-94 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center.

The defeat marked Sacramento’s 13th straight loss, the longest skid for the franchise since relocating to Northern California in 1985. The all-time franchise record remains 14 consecutive losses, set by the Cincinnati Royals in 1959-60 and matched again in 1970-71.

DeRozan’s reaction followed a third-quarter alley-oop dunk by Zion Williamson. After the game, he said the frustration stemmed from mistakes the Kings are making themselves.

“A lot of stuff we do is self-inflicted,” DeRozan said. “Us not being in the right spots, make it a chain reaction, them getting back in transition, getting easy shots, easy buckets.”

Head coach Doug Christie said he understood DeRozan’s emotions, describing him as “a consummate professional,” and noted the two discussed the moment afterward.

“His frustration is more about, first of all, ending a skid,” Christie said, adding that the lopsided nature of the loss stood out compared to recent close games.

Rookie center Maxime Raynaud led Sacramento with 21 points and a career-high 19 rebounds as the Kings fell to 12-43.

New Orleans controlled the game throughout, with Trey Murphy III scoring 21 points and Zion Williamson adding 18 points, five rebounds, and six assists.
