De’Aaron Fox is expected to make his long-awaited return to the court on Saturday, when the San Antonio Spurs host the New Orleans Pelicans.
The star point guard has been sidelined since the offseason while rehabbing a hamstring injury but now appears ready to make his 2025–26 season debut.
Fox joined the Spurs midway through last season in a trade from the Sacramento Kings, yet his time on the floor alongside Victor Wembanyama was limited.
The two shared just 120 minutes across five games before injuries disrupted San Antonio’s plans to build around their new backcourt-frontcourt pairing.
The Spurs could use Fox’s return now more than ever, as guard depth has become an issue with Dylan Harper expected to miss several weeks because of a calf strain.
Fox’s presence should immediately boost the team’s playmaking and scoring options.
Before the injury, Fox was putting together another strong campaign, averaging 23.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.5 steals over 62 games split between the Spurs and Kings.
His importance to San Antonio was further solidified this past offseason, when he signed a four-year, $229 million contract extension to remain the franchise’s cornerstone guard.
