Stephen Curry delivered a season-high 49 points, including the game-winning free throws with six seconds left, to lift the Golden State Warriors to a 109-108 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at Frost Bank Center on Friday. The win gave the Warriors (8-6) their first NBA Cup triumph and a sweep of the two-game San Antonio series.

Victor Wembanyama tallied 26 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three blocks for the Spurs (8-4), but his efforts fell short in a tightly contested matchup. De’Aaron Fox added 24 points and 10 assists, while Julian Champagnie contributed 14.

Curry shot 16 of 26 from the field and hit nine of 17 from three-point range, showcasing his scoring dominance throughout the contest. Golden State trailed briefly in the first quarter but used a 30-point third period to gain momentum and take control in the fourth.

The game featured intense physicality, with Draymond Green and Wembanyama being separated three times during an inbounds scramble in the fourth quarter. Wembanyama’s alley-oop dunk was waved off due to a foul on Green, who then fouled out seconds later.

Jimmy Butler added 21 points, and Brandin Podziemski and Will Richard contributed 10 each for the Warriors. De’Aaron Fox’s late 17-foot jumper missed as time expired, sealing San Antonio’s fate after Curry calmly converted both free throws.

Golden State’s bench provided key support, keeping the offense balanced and allowing the Warriors to maintain a slim lead in the final minutes. The team forced crucial turnovers in the fourth quarter, limiting the Spurs’ scoring opportunities down the stretch.

The Warriors improve to 1-0 in NBA Cup play, while the Spurs drop to 1-1. Golden State will face the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday, and San Antonio hosts Sacramento in their next matchup.
