Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg will be sidelined for Thursday’s matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers and Friday’s Castrol Rising Stars event after an MRI revealed a left midfoot sprain.
The injury occurred during Tuesday’s game against the Phoenix Suns.
Dallas confirmed the diagnosis Wednesday evening after reviewing imaging results.
The team has not outlined a firm return date, stating only that Flagg will miss the two upcoming appearances and will be reevaluated as he progresses.
Through his rookie campaign, Flagg has averaged 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.2 steals in 34.1 minutes per game.
He and former Duke teammate Kon Knueppel are currently viewed as the leading contenders for Rookie of the Year honors.
