In their most recent analysis of the 2025 NBA Draft, ESPN analysts Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo offered detailed insights into how the lottery might unfold, tailoring their projections to the potential draft positions of each team.
While the dynamics of the draft shift notably depending on which franchise ends up with the third overall selection, there is a strong consensus at the top: Duke’s Cooper Flagg is widely projected as the No. 1 overall pick, followed closely by Dylan Harper from Rutgers at No. 2.
The picture becomes less clear starting with the third pick, which is highly situational and varies based on team needs and preferences. Certain organizations might lean toward Ace Bailey, a versatile forward also from Rutgers, whereas others may favor the dynamic backcourt skills of Baylor’s V.J. Edgecombe.
According to Givony and Woo, there is mutual agreement that these two prospects – Bailey and Edgecombe – are the most likely candidates to be selected third and fourth, though the order could change depending on the team’s priorities.
Beyond the top four, the draft is expected to diverge into a range of possibilities.
Several other standout prospects – including Jeremiah Fears, Tre Johnson, Kasparas Jakucionis, Khaman Maluach, Kon Knueppel, and Derik Queen – are anticipated to round out the remainder of the top ten, highlighting the depth and diversity of talent in this year’s class.
