The Utah Jazz are sending guard Collin Sexton and a 2030 second-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for veteran center Jusuf Nurkic, according to a report by Shams Charania.
The move marks a significant shift for both franchises, with Utah opting to bolster its interior presence and Charlotte investing in backcourt scoring. Sexton, 26, averaged 18.4 points and 4.2 assists on 48.0% shooting this past season while starting 61 games for the Jazz.
Charlotte, coming off a 21-61 campaign, will now look to pair Sexton with LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller in a revamped backcourt. Sexton is entering the final year of a four-year, $71 million contract and has averaged 18.8 points per game over seven NBA seasons.
Nurkic, 30, averaged 8.9 points and 7.8 rebounds in 20.8 minutes across 51 appearances this season split between Phoenix and Charlotte. He joined the Hornets midseason and played 26 games for them, starting in nine contests.
The 6-foot-11 center brings experience and size to a Utah squad that lacked consistent interior defense. Over 11 seasons, Nurkic has posted career averages of 11.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.
