After the Los Angeles Clippers acquired new veterans in the offseason, James Harden noticed the immediate impact on their team, particularly from Chris Paul and Brook Lopez, during practice and games.
Harden has been impressive, posting huge numbers, including 50 points in two wins, as he led the Clippers to a 2-1 win-loss record against the Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers this early season.
The former MVP lauded his teammates, one of whom is the veteran center Lopez, saying that he had won a championship before, which would allow him to share his experience with the team.
“He’s a vet that’s won a championship before. At the end of the day it’s all about winning for us… He’s gonna curse you out. His personality is different but it’s great for our team. He has a great personality. When he’s mad, he’s gonna let you know he’s mad. We appreciate him. We’re happy he’s on our side now,” Harden said.
Aside from the newcomer, he also discussed Kawhi Leonard’s natural scoring ability and how it affects their team chemistry, given his role as the team’s primary leader.
“Kawhi is a very, very generational talent. So Kawhi can get off and get to his spots whenever he wants to. And he obviously makes the shot more often than not. We’re so good as a team, it’s just flow of the game… The ultimate goal is to win the game however that looks,” Harden added.
The Clippers are actually scary, as they have two NBA champions.
The 7-foot-1 center is averaging 8.7 points and 4.3 rebounds, while the two-time NBA champion and finals MVP with 22.3 points, 6.3 boards, and 3.7 assists per game in three matches this early season.
