The Los Angeles Clippers are growing increasingly concerned that Bradley Beal could miss an extended stretch of time due to a left hip injury, head coach Tyronn Lue told reporters before Monday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, according to Justin Russo.

Beal is currently undergoing medical evaluations to determine the full extent of the issue, which was initially labeled as left hip soreness, per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.

The veteran guard has already missed several games this season, and the team is waiting on test results to establish a clearer recovery timeline.

According to Kellan Olson of ArizonaSports.com, Beal revealed last Friday in Phoenix that he has been managing some form of injury since last season, when he was still with the Suns.

The 32-year-old has faced a series of health setbacks in recent years, appearing in just 40 to 60 games in each of the past six seasons.

The Clippers, who traded for Beal to bolster their offensive firepower, now face the challenge of navigating his latest injury concern early in the season.

Meanwhile, Tyronn Lue also confirmed a lineup change on Monday, inserting John Collins into the starting five for the first time since joining the Clippers.

Lue said he intends to keep Collins in that role “for a while,” emphasizing his value on the boards.

“We’ve been struggling rebounding the basketball, and career, statistically, he’s been a really good rebounder,” Lue explained.

Collins, who will become an unrestricted free agent next summer if he doesn’t sign a veteran extension, offers the Clippers added size and athleticism – something they’ve been seeking to improve in their frontcourt.

With Beal’s status uncertain, Los Angeles will be relying on contributions from across the roster to maintain stability in the weeks ahead.
