Veteran point guard Chris Paul may be heading back to familiar territory this offseason, with both the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers emerging as possible destinations.

After spending the 2024–25 season with the San Antonio Spurs, where he impressively played all 82 games, Paul is said to be interested in returning closer to the Los Angeles area, where he has long-standing personal and professional ties.

A potential reunion with the Suns, a team Paul led to the NBA Finals in 2021, could materialize if current guard Tyus Jones departs in free agency.

Paul was originally dealt away by Phoenix in the summer of 2023 as part of the Bradley Beal trade, which sent him to the Washington Wizards before ultimately landing with the Spurs.

Meanwhile, if the Clippers pursue Paul, it would mark a notable reunion with James Harden, his former teammate in Houston.

Their last partnership ended contentiously in 2019, when Paul was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder amid reports of tension between the two stars. Despite the rocky past, a Clippers-Paul pairing remains on the table.

Now 40 years old, Paul still brings leadership, high basketball IQ, and veteran stability to any roster.

Whether it’s a Suns comeback or a Clippers reunion, his next move will be one of the more closely watched free agency developments this offseason.
