Charlotte Hornets head coach Charles Lee loves what Grant Williams has brought since returning from a torn ACL/meniscus in his right knee (averaging 4.7 PPG/3.4 RPG/1.1 APG/0.6 SPG/0.2 BPG/0.6 TOV/1.1 PF/17.4 MPG through nine games played).

“I think he’s been playing well. I think he’s finding his rhythm, his groove every game he gets to play. I think the two biggest things that he’s added to our group is physicality and basketball IQ. There’s just been so many plays defensively where his Reds… like being able to steer in a Red, and he’s making sure his guy’s not setting good screens or he’s not able to roll quickly. There’s been a couple clips that we’ve watched where a shot goes up and maybe Moussa [Diabate] went to go contest or he’s a little out of position, and Grant’s coming over and cracking his guy and not allowing him to get an offensive rebound putback.
“The same physicality is there offensively. I know a couple ATO’s we drew up or side out of bounds and Grant has a responsibility to screen, and he freakin’ cracks a guy and gets Kon [Knueppel] open or Brandon [Miller]. And so, we’ve really felt it there. The physicality on the offensive glass: I think he’s offensive rebounded way more this year than I remember him last year. So making that commitment, and then the basketball IQ stuff. He’s able to communicate to our guys at a really high-level because he sees the game really well, and he does it in a really effective way.”
