The Boston Celtics superstar has been doing a great job on his rehabilitation process.
While Brown was surprised to see him on the court, working very actively, the dedication of Tatum to return to the court and compete was remarkable.
“He’s been super active. He’s been around. It’s been dope to see. He’s been engaged. He’s been on majority of every flight, almost every film session. So that level of dedication, you can tell he’s eager to get back. A lot of guys that know they got an extended amount of time, they’re going to separate themselves mentally for a little bit or whatever. He’s been there. He’s been like an extra coach, in a sense. So it’s been kind of cool to see any little,” Brown said.
The former Finals MVP was impressed by Tatum’s capability to manage, especially mentally, after just falling short and experiencing a major injury in the last postseason.
Although it seemed that he had been rushing the process of his recovery, Tatum emphasized during the media that he will not return until he is entirely 100% recovered and ready to play.
Head coach Joe Mazzulla also provided an update on Tatum, stating that he is doing well with full effort.
However, Mazzulla discussed Tatum’s absence from the team, noting that the lack of leadership is not hindering the team’s performance.
“He’s doing well… Everyone has different leadership responsibilities. Everybody leads in different ways. He’s done a great job. Obviously, his ability to lead on the court has been taken away. He’s done a great job leading off the court… with the work ethic of his recovery,” Mazzulla said.
With these workouts, one thing is sure: the NBA champion will be back soon, but hopefully with no such rush and pressure to be more efficient in the long term, especially for the franchise.
