The Cleveland Cavaliers visit the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, February 1, at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. Tipoff time has not been specified in the available schedule data, but injuries on both sides are expected to play a major role.
Cleveland enters the game fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 29-21 record. The Cavaliers are coming off a 126-113 road loss to the Phoenix Suns after a 129-99 home win against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Cavaliers will be without two core starters. Darius Garland is out with a right great toe sprain, while Evan Mobley remains sidelined with a left calf strain.
Garland has averaged 18.0 points and 6.9 assists in 26 games this season, serving as the primary ball handler. Mobley has posted 17.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game, anchoring the interior on both ends.
Max Strus is also out following left foot surgery for a Jones fracture. Luke Travers has been ruled out due to a G League two-way assignment. Craig Porter Jr. is listed as questionable with left knee soreness. Newly signed Tristan Enaruna is also questionable due to a G League two-way designation.
Mitchell continues to carry the offense, averaging 29.1 points per game on 48.4 percent shooting. Jarrett Allen remains available and averages 13.3 points and 7.8 rebounds while shooting nearly 60 percent from the field.
Portland enters the matchup ninth in the Western Conference with a 23-26 record. The Trail Blazers have lost four straight games, including a 127-97 defeat at New York on January 30.
The Trail Blazers’ injury report is extensive. Damian Lillard is out for left Achilles injury management, while Scoot Henderson remains sidelined with a left hamstring tear. Jrue Holiday is also out for personal reasons.
Deni Avdija is questionable with a low back strain after averaging 25.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.7 assists this season. His availability is critical given Portland’s absences in the backcourt.
Robert Williams III is listed as questionable due to left knee injury management, while Blake Wesley is questionable with a right foot fracture. Kris Murray, Duop Reath, and Matisse Thybulle have all been ruled out.
Shaedon Sharpe leads the active roster in scoring at 21.9 points per game. Donovan Clingan averages 11.2 points and 11.1 rebounds, providing interior production despite limited frontcourt depth.
The teams met once earlier this season on December 3 in Cleveland, where Portland earned a 122-110 win.
