The Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics are set to face off Wednesday at TD Garden, with both teams dealing with multiple injuries that could shape the matchup. The Bulls enter the contest struggling with health issues, while the Celtics will be without one of their top stars.
Chicago’s roster lists Zach Collins (right first toe sprain) and Noa Essengue (left shoulder sprain) as out. Josh Giddey, Tre Jones, and Jalen Smith are all doubtful with hamstring and calf strains, while Isaac Okoro is questionable due to left knee soreness. Two-way players Yuki Kawamura and Mac McClung will not suit up.
Boston will be without Jayson Tatum, who continues his recovery from right Achilles repair, and two-way player John Tonje. Sam Hauser (low back spasms) and Neemias Queta (right ankle sprain) are probable for Wednesday’s game, giving the Celtics a near-full rotation. Max Shulga remains out in the G League.
The Bulls are coming off back-to-back losses, 115-123 at Brooklyn and 120-136 to Denver, leaving them at 24-30 overall and in 11th place in the Eastern Conference. Their injury issues leave Anfernee Simons, Collin Sexton, Jaden Ivey, and Matas Buzelis as key contributors, with Simons averaging 20.0 points and 5.3 assists, and Buzelis posting 15.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
Boston enters the game with a 34-19 record, sitting second in the East, after a 98-96 win over Miami and an 89-111 loss to the Knicks. Jaylen Brown leads the Celtics with 29.4 points per game, supported by Derrick White and Payton Pritchard, who are averaging 17.4 and 17.1 points, respectively.
This season, Chicago and Boston have split their previous two meetings. The Celtics won 115-101 at Chicago on January 5, while the Bulls responded with a 114-111 home win on January 24.
