Josh Giddey was sidelined for Monday night’s loss to the San Antonio Spurs, but the Chicago Bulls don’t believe his right ankle sprain is a serious issue, head coach Billy Donovan told reporters, per Jamal Collier of ESPN.
“We don’t feel like it’s anything too severe with his ankle,” Donovan said. “He didn’t have really much swelling after the game [Saturday]. He got some [treatment] yesterday and was just a little bit uncomfortable today at shootaround.”
According to Donovan, the team is taking a cautious approach, listing Giddey as day-to-day while he continues to receive treatment and rest.
The 23-year-old guard suffered the injury during Saturday’s game but was able to avoid significant swelling, which the Bulls view as a positive sign.
Giddey has played 5 seasons for the Thunder and Bulls. He has averaged 14.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in 285 regular-season games.
