With several key the Los Angeles Lakers sidelined, Bronny James is making the most of his expanded opportunity, earning consistent minutes for the first time in his young NBA career.

As reported by Thuc Nhi Nguyen of The Los Angeles Times, the second-year guard logged 18 and 19 minutes in consecutive wins over the Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers earlier this week, showing poise and productivity in both outings.

James made a notable defensive impact against Miami, recording three steals, and followed that up with an efficient playmaking performance versus Portland, tallying six assists without committing a turnover.

“Ready to take advantage of the times that I get when our guys are out,” the player said after the game. “I’m going to stay aggressive.”

Head coach JJ Redick credited James’ progress to his growing comfort with the NBA’s pace and decision-making demands.

Redick has emphasized a “point-five” mentality – making a decision to shoot, dribble, or pass within half a second of receiving the ball.

“He’s now developed where he’s got a great point-five mentality,” the coach explained. “He’s catch-and-shoot ready at all times.”
