Bobby Portis Jr. has officially agreed to a new three-year, $44 million deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, choosing long-term security over the $13.4 million player option he previously held for the 2025-26 season.

Portis’s new agreement includes a player option for the third year, giving him flexibility for the 2027-28 campaign. He is represented by agents Mark Bartelstein and Kieran Piller of Priority Sports.

Despite only appearing in 49 games last season due to a 25-game suspension for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy, Portis remained productive on the court.

He averaged 13.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while playing 25.4 minutes per contest.

His consistent performance over recent seasons is reflected in his Player Efficiency Rating (PER), which has remained steady in the 17.4 to 17.7 range over the past four years – a strong mark for a high-impact bench contributor.

Before finalizing his return to Milwaukee, Portis reportedly drew interest from teams like the Golden State Warriors, who saw his size, shooting ability, and experience as a potential fit for their rotation.

However, the Bucks moved quickly to retain one of their most valuable role players.

At 6-foot-10, Portis’s ability to stretch the floor with his perimeter shooting makes him an essential component of Milwaukee’s offense. His spacing complements the inside dominance of Giannis Antetokounmpo, forcing defenders to stay honest on the perimeter.

Since arriving in Milwaukee after previous stints with the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards, Portis has grown into a beloved figure among Bucks fans – not only for his production, but also for his energy, toughness, and passion.

This deal secures Portis’ place in the Bucks’ core for the foreseeable future, as the franchise continues to build around Antetokounmpo while maintaining a roster that can contend in the Eastern Conference.
