The Portland Trail Blazers announced the signing of rookie forward Andrew Carr, making the move official through a team press release.
Although the organization didn’t disclose contract details, previous reports from June suggested Carr would be joining the Blazers on a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 deal. That type of contract typically allows a player to take part in training camp before being waived ahead of the regular season.
The plan, in Carr’s case, is for him to transition to the Rip City Remix, Portland’s G League affiliate. If he remains with the Remix for at least 60 days, he’ll be eligible to receive a bonus of up to $85,300.
Carr arrives in Portland with plenty of college experience, having spent five years at the NCAA level. He played two seasons at Delaware, two at Wake Forest, and capped off his collegiate career with a “super senior” year at Kentucky during the 2024/25 season.
At 6-foot-9, Carr provided steady contributions for the Wildcats, starting 29 of 35 games and averaging 10.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists across 24 minutes per contest. He posted efficient numbers overall, shooting 54.4% from the field, 32.4% from three, and 74.8% from the free-throw line.
This past summer, Carr got his first taste of professional basketball when he suited up for the Blazers’ Summer League squad in Las Vegas.
In five appearances, he played a limited role, averaging 3.0 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game while struggling to find consistency with his shot (.375 from the field, .143 from deep, and .500 from the foul line).
With one slot still available on its 21-man preseason roster, Portland didn’t need to make any additional moves to accommodate Carr. By signing him, the Blazers filled out their training camp group completely.
