Bismack Biyombo is set to return to the San Antonio Spurs on a one-year deal, league sources told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, with confirmation from Biyombo’s agents at Wasserman, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

The contract is reported to be non-guaranteed.

The 33-year-old center joined the Spurs in early March of last season and quickly moved into the starting lineup.

Over 28 games, including 26 starts, he averaged 5.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in 18.9 minutes per game while shooting 58.8% from the field.

For the upcoming season, Biyombo is expected to assume a reserve role behind Victor Wembanyama, who is returning from a blood clot issue in his right shoulder, and newly added Luke Kornet.

Biyombo provides the Spurs with a seasoned backup capable of rebounding, protecting the rim, and finishing around the basket.

This will mark the 15th NBA season for Biyombo, who began his career with the Charlotte Hornets after being selected seventh overall in the 2011 draft.

Throughout his career, he has played for seven different teams and spent time out of the league before signing with San Antonio last season.

With Biyombo’s deal, the Spurs’ roster reaches 15 standard contracts.

Currently, the only player on the 14-man group without a full guarantee is Lindy Waters III, whose one-year minimum deal is guaranteed for only $500,000 until the league-wide guarantee date of January 10.

San Antonio is presently at the offseason roster limit of 21 players, meaning a corresponding move will be required before finalizing Biyombo’s contract.

One possibility is waiving Isaiah Miller, who recently signed a training camp deal over the weekend.
