Austin Reaves sat out his third consecutive game on Saturday, but signs point to the Lakers guard returning soon, according to Thuc Nhi Nguyen of The Los Angeles Times.
Medical imaging revealed that Reaves is dealing with a mild strain in his right groin, and the team remains optimistic about his recovery timeline.
Head coach JJ Redick told reporters that the Oklahoma native’s discomfort is minimal, saying the player’s pain level is “really low.”
That encouraging update suggests the injury is not serious and that Reaves could be nearing a return to action.
Nguyen also noted that Reaves plans to stay active during the Lakers’ current five-game road trip – even mentioning that he intends to play some golf – a sign that he’s feeling well enough to move comfortably.
There’s optimism within the organization that the 27-year-old could rejoin the lineup before the team heads back to Los Angeles.
