Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves is nearing a return after a lengthy absence. Reaves has been sidelined for the past 19 games while recovering from a strained left calf.
He was nearly cleared to play in Sunday night’s matchup against the New York Knicks, but was ultimately ruled out shortly before tipoff.
“He’s day-to-day, game-to-game, however you want to phrase it,” Lakers head coach JJ Redick said. “We’ll hopefully have him for Tuesday (at the Brooklyn Nets), but he’s got to feel 100% confident.”
Prior to the injury, Reaves had been in the middle of one of the most productive stretches of his career.
He was averaging 26.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game, while shooting an efficient 50.7% from the field.
Reaves also remained a reliable perimeter threat, connecting on 36.5% of his 7.4 three-point attempts per contest.
