Paris Saint-Germain beat Arsenal 4-3 on penalties after a dramatic Champions League final ended 1-1 in Budapest.
Gabriel Magalhaes blazed the crucial penalty over the bar to allow holders PSG to retain their title, after Eberechi Eze had put his spot-kick wide earlier in the shootout, only for David Raya to save from Nuno Mendes to bring it back level.
Kai Havertz had given the Gunners a dream start to their first Champions League final for 20 years when he smashed home after six minutes but Ousmane Dembele equalised from the spot after Cristhian Mosquera fouled Khvicha Kvaratskhelia midway through the second half.
Arsenal felt they should have had a penalty in extra time when Noni Madueke was bundled over by Mendes but the referee waved play on and the Londoners went on to have their hearts broken int he cruellest way possible.
Now come the PSG squad, led by Luis Enrique, with every player beaming in delight.
The Arsenal players, in various states of sadness, queue up to shake the hands of various suits – including the owners – before receiving their medals. Arteta goes up too, a grim look etched upon his face.
Doue reacts
“We are so so proud, happy grateful. It was a tough game against a very good team. We deserve it. Look at the crowd, our family, I just want to say thank you, I am so happy,” he tells TNT Sports.
PSG vs Arsenal player ratings
Paris Saint-Germain won back-to-back Champions League’s after defeating Arsenal on penalties after the final in Budapest finished 1-1 after extra-time.
Mikel Arteta’s men executed their game plan close to perfection and nullified the firepower of the French champions while Kai Havertz proved once again how important he is in big games by scoring the opening goal just six minutes into the match.
A touch of class
The Parisians are in full-on party mode already, of course, but it is worth noting that when they raced off to celebrate one of them stuck around to console Gabriel – his compatriot Marquinhos.

Gabriel gutted
Watching the penalty back, it’s a really bad attempt from Gabriel. Like Eze, he stuttered before taking it and the ball sailed way over.
He is, understandably, shellshocked and it is a cruel twist for a player so integral to Arsenal’s Premier League success.
PSG retain the Champions League
And Arsenal’s players rush to embrace Gabriel, who missed the decisive final kick. In the crowd fans in red and white are in tears. At the other end sheer jubilation.
