Arsenal boss says Saka close to return

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has given an update on injuries ahead of Saturday�s Premier League clash with Sunderland at the Emirates.

Bukayo Saka is close to a return after a hip issue, with Arteta saying he could be back very soon, while Martin Odegaard, is due to sit out the next few days with a knock.

Arteta also confirmed Jurrien Timber is fit despite missing training, but midfielder Mikel Merino faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines following foot surgery and is unlikely to return before May.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has ruled wantaway striker Jean Phillippe Mateta out of the next two matches after his deadline day move to Italy collapsed.

Mateta failed a medical with AC Milan after concerns over his knee.

That could now mean surgery, which would effectively end his hopes of going to the World Cup with France.
