The NBA has imposed a $50,000 fine on Anthony Edwards after he directed inappropriate language and made an obscene gesture toward a fan during Game 1 of the Timberwolves’ first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The incident occurred with 4:33 remaining in the third quarter of Minnesota’s dominant 117-95 victory on April 19 at Crypto.com Arena.
Edwards, who had 22 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds in the win, was one of the key contributors to the Timberwolves’ success. His nearly triple-double helped Minnesota erase an early deficit and eventually secure a commanding lead.
The Timberwolves’ victory was fueled by a balanced team attack, with Jaden McDaniels leading the charge with 25 points and Naz Reid adding 23 points, including six 3-pointers.
Minnesota now holds a 1-0 series lead, with Game 2 scheduled for Tuesday in Los Angeles.
