Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry believes injuries have played a major role in the team’s inability to compete for another NBA championship in recent seasons.

During an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area, Curry discussed the difficulties Golden State has faced while competing against other Western Conference contenders.

“We knew there’s never really going to be a scenario where you’re going to be in the favorites conversation from a championship-contending perspective. There’s so many great teams out there. But for us to go through a year like we did last year where we had, and the year before in the playoffs, I get hurt, we take an early exit in [the] second round,” Curry said.

The veteran guard pointed to his own injury during the playoffs as one example of how player availability affected the Warriors’ postseason results.

Golden State has struggled to maintain consistent success since winning the 2022 NBA championship, with injuries contributing to the team’s difficulties.

Despite those setbacks, Curry believes the Warriors have remained competitive enough to challenge for a playoff position.

The organization could make further roster changes this offseason as it looks to improve its chances of returning to championship contention.
