Aston Villa have sacked boss Natalia Arroyo after a winless start to the Women’s Super League season.
Villa, who finished ninth last term, sit second bottom of the table following two draws and two defeats from their opening four matches and were beaten 4-0 by Tottenham in the WSL on Sunday.
Arroyo, who previously managed Real Sociedad Femenino, joined Villa in January 2025 and helped the club avoid relegation.
Brian Sorensen, the former Everton boss who is now Villa’s technical advisor, will take charge of the team on an interim basis and will be in the hotseat for their League Cup clash with Newcastle on Wednesday.

Villa had invested in their squad during the summer transfer window, completing the arrivals of experienced duo Mathilde Harviken and Amalie Vangsgaard from Juventus among others.
However, their underwhelming start to the new campaign has sparked the club into action, with Sorensen now tasked with addressing the team’s current failings.
Villa are one of four teams to be winless so far this term, with Brighton, Birmingham and Charlton all struggling for points.
