The Los Angeles Clippers are adding former first-round pick Blake Wesley on a one-year contract, according to Jake Fischer.
Wesley, 23, was selected 25th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2022 NBA Draft after one season at Notre Dame. He spent his first three NBA seasons with San Antonio before joining the Portland Trail Blazers in 2025-26.
The guard appeared in 31 games for Portland last season, averaging 4.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 11.6 minutes per game. He shot 45.2% from the field but made just 27.8% of his three-point attempts.
Wesley has played 187 regular-season games over four NBA seasons, including four starts. He has averaged 4.4 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 13.8 minutes per game, shooting 41.6% from the field and 29.4% from three-point range.
His most productive season came as a rookie in San Antonio in 2022-23, when he averaged 5.0 points and 2.6 assists in 37 games. Wesley subsequently appeared in 61 games in 2023-24 and 58 in 2024-25 before moving to Portland.
The Clippers are entering the 2026-27 season with a significantly reshaped roster after going 42-40 and missing the playoffs last season. Los Angeles traded Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors in September and has built its new roster around Darius Garland, Brandon Ingram and fifth overall pick Keaton Wagler.
The Clippers also have several guards competing for playing time. Garland averaged 19.9 points and 6.4 assists in 19 games for the team last season, while Kris Dunn averaged 7.3 points and 3.6 assists across all 82 games. Kobe Sanders averaged 7.3 points and shot 40.8% from three in 68 appearances, while Jordan Miller added 10.0 points per game.
The team also re-signed Bradley Beal and acquired Max Strus during the offseason, further increasing the competition in the backcourt.
