Jared McCain is keeping his attention on basketball rather than exploring a music career, although he is not completely ruling out the possibility of releasing songs someday.
The 22-year-old Oklahoma City Thunder guard has developed a large audience away from the court, particularly on social media, where he has more than 5.5 million TikTok followers.
Despite that popularity, McCain says creating original music is not part of his immediate plans.
“I probably wouldn’t at the moment, no. I’m too focused on basketball right now. But you never know in the future. Maybe one day,” McCain told us.
For now, McCain has more pressing basketball priorities as he prepares for his first complete season with Oklahoma City.
The former 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft joined the Thunder in a February trade.
McCain appeared in 30 games following the move, averaging 9.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists with his new team.
With Oklahoma City entering the season with championship expectations, McCain could have an important role in the Thunder rotation.
Any potential move into making his own music will have to remain a future possibility while he concentrates on his NBA career.
