Ten minutes earlier, defending champion Rory McIlroy begins his bid for a third Irish Open title.
Victory would see McIlroy join the likes of Seve Ballesteros and Nick Faldo as a three-time winner, although he says records are not his main focus this week.
Lowry is also looking for a second Irish Open title, having famously won the tournament as an amateur in 2009. He has yet to win it since turning professional.
