Rally driver Oran England, from Virginia, County Cavan, competes in his first international event this weekend at Rali Ceredigion in Wales.
Driving a Peugeot Ireland-supported Peugeot 208 Rally4 alongside co-driver Darragh, England gets his competitive campaign underway on Friday evening following reconnaissance and Thursday’s ceremonial start in Aberystwyth.
Friday evening marks England’s first experience of competitive night stages. Action starts on the Aberystwyth street stage with SS1 at 7:05 PM and SS2 at 7:35 PM, followed by two night stages in the countryside: SS3 Elerch at 8:50 PM and SS4 Blaenmelindwr at 9:30 PM.
Saturday morning’s opening stage, SS5 Aberffrwd 1, starts at 8:55 AM.
The team aims to gain experience against European competitors while comparing pace with the Stellantis Cup UK and British Rally Championship field.
Speaking ahead of the rally, Oran England said:
“It’s my first international event, so there’s obviously a lot of excitement going into the weekend. Myself and Darragh are really looking forward to getting stuck into shakedown tomorrow and then finally, getting out onto the stages tomorrow evening for some night stages!”
“The main aim this weekend is to see how we have to learn against the Big European guys and see if we can mix it up with the Stellantis Cup UK & BRC guys and learn as much as possible along the way! The stages look absolutely incredible after recce, with plenty of challenges, so we’re going to give it everything and see where we end up.”
“Also a massive thank you to Bernard at CBM Signs for pulling out all the stops at the last minute to get the car wrapped. What a job he’s done! An absolutely top job and we really appreciate all the effort to get it looking this good!”
“Thanks again to everyone for all the support, messages and comments, and make sure you keep tuned in over the weekend as there’s plenty more excitement to come!”
