The Orlando Magic have signed guards Malaki Branham and JD Davison, the team announced Thursday. Terms of both deals were not disclosed.
Branham, 23, spent the 2025-26 season with Washington, appearing in 28 regular-season games and averaging 4.6 points and 1.6 rebounds in 9.8 minutes per game.
Washington traded Branham to Charlotte on Feb. 5 as part of a three-team deal that also involved Dallas. The Hornets waived him four days later.
Branham also played seven regular-season games for the Cleveland Cavaliers’ G League affiliate, starting three times and averaging 20.3 points, 4.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 23.6 minutes.
The 6-foot-5 guard was originally selected by San Antonio with the 20th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He has appeared in 216 NBA regular-season games, including 61 starts, averaging 8.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 17.8 minutes per game.
Branham shot 84.0% from the free-throw line over his NBA career. He will wear No. 12 in Orlando.
Branham’s strongest college season came at Ohio State in 2021-22, when he averaged 13.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 32 games. He shot 41.6% from three-point range and 83.3% from the free-throw line while earning Big Ten Freshman of the Year and third-team All-Big Ten honors.
Davison, 23, appeared in 28 games for Houston last season, averaging 2.5 points, 1.3 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 7.8 minutes. The Rockets converted his two-way contract to a standard deal on April 7, and he appeared in two playoff games.
The 6-foot-4 guard also produced at the G League level, averaging 25.2 points, 6.8 assists, 6.6 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.4 blocks in five games for Rio Grande Valley. He played 35.6 minutes per game during that stretch.
Originally selected by Boston with the 53rd pick in 2022, Davison has played 64 NBA regular-season games with the Celtics and Rockets. He has averaged 2.1 points, 1.1 assists and 1.0 rebound in 6.5 minutes per game.
Davison has been considerably more productive in the G League, where he has averaged 20.1 points, 8.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.29 steals across 89 career regular-season games. He was named G League MVP and first-team All-G League in 2024-25.
The additions give Orlando two more guards with significant G League experience as the franchise reshapes its roster under new head coach Sean Sweeney.
The Magic went 45-37 during the 2025-26 regular season, finishing eighth in the Eastern Conference. They led Detroit 3-1 in the first round before the Pistons rallied to win the series, including a 116-94 Game 7 victory.
Orlando’s offseason has emphasized cost control around its young core of Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, Desmond Bane, Jalen Suggs and Wendell Carter Jr. The Magic also brought back Nikola Vucevic, Jevon Carter and Jonathan Isaac on one-year minimum contracts.
The backcourt remains an important area to monitor, particularly with Anthony Black approaching the October deadline for a rookie-scale extension.
