Stephen Curry could soon have another long-term commitment from the Golden State Warriors, with both sides reportedly planning to discuss a new deal after he becomes extension-eligible on August 29.
Golden State can offer Curry two additional seasons for as much as $136.7 million.
Such an agreement would keep the franchise icon under contract through the season in which he turns 40. His existing deal expires after this season and pays him $62.6 million.
The decision could also have major implications for Golden State’s future roster construction.
Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green could all come off the books in 2027, potentially opening considerable salary-cap room.
Kristaps Porzingis also has just $3 million guaranteed on his $20 million contract for the following season.
Mike Dunleavy Jr. has already indicated that he expects Curry and the organization to eventually work out another contract.
Despite being limited to 43 appearances last season, the player remained highly productive, putting up 26.6 points, 4.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game.
