Partizan has appointed Vladimir Micov as director of basketball operations while Joan Penarroya’s squad begins preparations for the upcoming season at Belgrade Arena.
Several players reported for the start of training, including Vanja Marinkovic, Joffrey Lauvergne, Alessandro Pajola, Luca Vildoza, Lamar Stevens, Derrick Willis, Kyle Allman and Kevarrius Hayes.
Jabari Parker, however, was not present despite recently returning to Belgrade.
Partizan president Ostoja Mijailovic addressed the uncertainty surrounding Parker’s status with the club.
“Jabari Parker is a Partizan player and has a valid contract with the club for another year. It is true that his arrival was the wish of the previous coaching staff, while the current coaching staff has its own plans and vision for the team next season,” Mijailovic said.
The club is now discussing possible options with Parker and his representatives as it attempts to find a solution that works for both sides.
“At this moment, together with the player and his representatives, we are looking for the best possible solution, primarily taking care of Partizan’s interests, but also maintaining a fair relationship with the player.”
Mijailovic said Partizan does not want to provide further details while negotiations remain ongoing.
“This is a serious matter that we are approaching with special care, and I would not like us to release incomplete information while the talks are ongoing. Once we have a final resolution, we will inform the public in due course.”
