Real Madrid have officially added Olivier Sarr, signing the French center to a two-year contract that will keep him with the club through the 2027-28 season.
The 27-year-old arrives from the Cleveland Cavaliers and gives Madrid another option in the frontcourt following Usman Garuba’s serious Achilles injury.
The 2.08-meter big man brings size, mobility, shot-blocking ability and the potential to stretch the floor.
Sarr entered the professional ranks after going undrafted in 2021 following college spells at Wake Forest and Kentucky.
He later spent time in both the NBA and G League, with most of his NBA appearances coming for the Oklahoma City Thunder before his move to Cleveland.
In 50 NBA games, Sarr averaged 4.7 points and 3.4 rebounds while converting 39.1 percent of his three-point attempts.
He also regularly produced double-doubles during his time in the G League.
The signing also gives Sarr a family connection to Real Madrid. His younger brother, Washington Wizards center Alex Sarr, previously spent two years in Madrid’s youth system from 2019 to 2021.
