Nikola Jokic’s agent has confirmed that Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos made a serious attempt to bring the Denver Nuggets superstar to Greece.
Giannakopoulos recently revealed that he presented an offer involving both Jokic and the Nuggets. His claim has now been backed by Jokic’s longtime agent, Misko Raznatovic.
“What Giannakopoulos said is true,” Raznatovic told Athletiko.
Giannakopoulos had previously stressed that his pursuit of the three-time NBA MVP was genuine rather than simply an ambitious idea.
“I made a very serious offer,” Giannakopoulos said, explaining that both Jokic and Denver received the proposal but rejected it.
The Panathinaikos owner has long expressed his admiration for Jokic and repeatedly discussed his desire to eventually bring the Serbian center to Athens.
For now, however, Jokic remains firmly established in Denver. The 31-year-old averaged 27.7 points, 12.9 rebounds and 10.7 assists during the 2025-26 NBA season.
Given Jokic’s importance to the Nuggets and the financial difference between the NBA and EuroLeague, a move remains extremely unlikely.
