Wiffen and McSharry progress from heats at Euros

Daniel Wiffen, Mona McSharry and Ellie McCartney are among those to progress from their heats at the European Aquatics Championships.

Wiffen finished third to qualify for the men’s 800-metres freestyle final tomorrow.

McSharry finished second-fastest overall in the women’s 100-metres breaststroke heats.

She progresses to tonight’s semi-finals, as does McCartney.

John Shortt came fourth in his heat in the men’s 200-metres backstroke, advancing to tonight’s semi-finals.

This evening, Jack Kelly could win Ireland’s first medal of the Championships.

He goes in the 100-metres breaststroke final just before 5:50 Irish Time.
