The Los Angeles Clippers have signed Yuki Kawamura to an Exhibit 10 contract, the team announced Sunday. The 25-year-old point guard returns to the NBA after spending the 2025-26 season with the Chicago Bulls and adds another ball-handler to a Clippers roster undergoing a major transition.
Kawamura has appeared in 40 NBA games over two seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies and Bulls. He averaged 2.5 points, 1.7 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 7.6 minutes per game while shooting 34.1% from the field and 30.0% from three-point range.
His NBA role expanded last season in Chicago. Kawamura played 18 games and averaged 3.4 points, 2.6 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 11.6 minutes per game, although he shot 32.7% from the field and 29.7% from three-point range.
The 5-foot-8 guard has been considerably more productive in the G League. In 31 games for the Memphis Hustle during the 2024-25 season, Kawamura averaged 12.7 points and 8.5 assists while shooting 38.3% from the field and 36.5% from three-point range.
He moved to the Westchester Knicks for 11 G League games in 2025-26 and increased his production to 18.7 points and 11.0 assists per game. Kawamura shot 35.7% from the field, 34.9% from three-point range and 87.5% from the free-throw line in those games.
The signing gives the Clippers another point guard option behind Darius Garland. Garland averaged 19.9 points and 6.4 assists in 19 games for Los Angeles last season, while Kris Dunn played 82 games and averaged 7.3 points and 3.6 assists.
Kawamura also joins a Clippers roster that has undergone significant changes since last season. Los Angeles traded Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors in a deal that brought back Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick and future draft capital, while the organization also selected Keaton Wagler with the fifth overall pick.
The Clippers finished 42-40 in 2025-26 and entered the Western Conference play-in tournament as the No. 9 seed. Their offseason has emphasized younger players and future assets, with Kawamura providing additional competition for the backcourt.
An Exhibit 10 contract can give Kawamura an opportunity to compete for a roster spot while allowing the Clippers to evaluate him during training camp and the preseason.
