Despite ASVEL’s financial setbacks, Tony Parker says his long-term ambitions for the French club remain unchanged.
“My dream would be to win with ASVEL one day and become NBA Europe champion. That would be huge,” Parker said in an interview with Legend.
The former NBA star also believes the proposed NBA Europe competition could significantly increase the club’s value.
“I think the best investment, if everything goes well, will be ASVEL with NBA Europe,” he added.
Parker recently took over as ASVEL’s head coach while continuing to lead the organization’s long-term development.
However, the club’s plans were dealt a major blow after a key investment failed to materialize, forcing its projected budget to drop from €59 million to approximately €24 million.
The financial difficulties have already resulted in the departures of Sylvain Francisco, Armoni Brooks and Daniel Theis, while uncertainty remains over several other offseason additions.
Although Parker has admitted that difficult decisions are unavoidable, he continues to express confidence in ASVEL’s long-term project.
