Vice President JD Vance praised WNBA player Sophie Cunningham for publicly defending women’s sports, encouraging her to continue speaking out on the issue of transgender athletes competing in female competitions.
Speaking about Cunningham’s position, Vance emphasized the importance of expressing one’s views.
“Keep speaking your mind.”
He added that courage can inspire others to do the same.
“The thing about courage is it’s contagious.”
Vance also argued that open discussion is essential for the country.
“We cannot save the United States of America unless you have people of courage who are speaking their mind.”
According to Vance, Cunningham’s willingness to voice her opinion has motivated others to speak publicly as well.
He said her stance “inspires a lot of people to do the same,” before offering one final message: “I would tell Sophie, keep going.”
