Bruno Guimaraes has received permission to travel to Arsenal and complete his £75m move from Newcastle United. The 28-year-old midfielder will undergo a medical at the Premier League champions within the coming days after both clubs agreed a fee.
The deal represents a key piece of business of Mikel Arteta ahead of Arsenal’s title defence – while Newcastle will be left to wave goodbye to another key player following the departures of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer.
Brazil international Guimaraes told Newcastle earlier this summer that he wanted to join Arsenal and a cut-price deal for the Brazil international was swiftly reached following negotiations between the clubs this week.
Arsenal will now turn to continuing their pursuit of Guimaraes’ international team-mate Vinicius Jr, although Real Madrid are said to have offered fresh terms to the Brazilian after his return to training on Tuesday.
Manchester United want to sign a left-back, meanwhile, with Lewis Hall reportedly now set on a move to Old Trafford, but Newcastle are determined to stop the exodus and insist he is not for sale.
Liverpool want to sign Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, and the European champions may have already landed his replacement: Maghnes Akliouche is set to join PSG from Monaco.

Rangers have signed Japan international Daisuke Yokota.
The winger arrives from Hannover for an initial fee of £2.75m.
Derek McInnes said: “He has gained valuable experience across a number of different leagues in Europe.
“He is quick, direct and has the ability to make things happen in the final third.”
He has also travelled with the Rangers squad ahead of the Europa League tie with Jagiellonia Bialystok on Thursday.
