Kevin Durant shared an awkward moment with Argentina’s national soccer team during Fanatics Fest in New York.

The former NBA Finals MVP walked onto the stage, passed by Lionel Messi and the rest of Argentina’s squad without greeting them, and took the microphone from Tom Brady.

He then acknowledged the other guests, including comedian Kevin Hart and Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente, before asking his question.

“I got a question for [Emi Martínez] right here,” Durant said, surprising the Argentina goalkeeper, who pointed to himself in disbelief.

“Yes, you,” Durant replied before asking, “What would it mean for your country and team to win back-to-back World Cups?”

Martínez admitted it was one of the toughest questions he had received.

“That’s the toughest question that someone has asked me. You know, I’m obviously proud to be in the 2022 World Cup final. You know, what it [means] to my country, to reach there, and once we won it, we experience Argentina like I’ve never seen before,” he said.

The Aston Villa goalkeeper praised the passion of Argentina’s supporters and said the players “work incredibly hard every single day to try to bring happiness to my country.”

He concluded by saying, “We’re gonna give absolutely our best, with Lio, with the team that we have, to bring back two World Cups into my country and celebrate with my people.”

Argentina will face Spain in Sunday’s World Cup final, seeking to become the first nation since Brazil in 1962 to successfully defend its world title.
