Legendary forward LeBron James has brought excitement to the league’s free-agent period, as basketball fans await his next destination.
Speaking to his next team, James’ ex-teammate Iman Shumpert detailed insights regarding which team will be the best fit for the Hall of Famer.
The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors were the top teams where James might land this upcoming season.
“I think it’s going to be a tough fit, and I could be previewing this based on what I watched. James Harden wasn’t even given a fair chance to establish the offense that suited the team best. He got thrown into the mix late. It’s just that style doesn’t fit LeBron, and it damn sure doesn’t fit LeBron at 42,” Shumpert said.
In Cleveland, the four-time champion could return home and play alongside Donovan Mitchell and Harden, while Stephen Curry on the other hand in Golden State.
“That doesn’t help James Harden or Donovan Mitchell. It makes me feel like they’re not even on the team. I think certain things just cancel each other out,” Shumpert added.
Shumpert believed that the Warriors would be the best fit for James due to his playing style, and also considering the relationship between Curry and James in the Olympics.
“I just feel like Golden State makes the most sense. From a playing-style standpoint, considering the guys he’d be playing with, it just fits,” he said. “The playing style of Steph Curry would benefit LeBron much more than the playing style of Donovan Mitchell or James Harden.”
James and Curry could help each other in obtaining their fifth championship, while Cleveland also has the potential for a title run if they fill the gap.
